The outrage and fear over Wednesday's violent protest at the capitol extended to the travel industry. The head of the largest U.S. flight attendants union is calling on airlines to ban passengers who participated in the mayhem. It would be a highly unusual for airlines to do so.
The largest flight attendants union in the U.S. saw the mayhem in Washington, D.C. and urged airlines to try to identify and bar passengers who participated. A pro-Trump mob effectively shut down the city by invading and occupying the U.S. Capitol, interrupting the ceremonial counting of the Electoral College votes awarding the presidency to President-elect Joe Biden.
"Our first priority in aviation safety and security is to keep any problems on the ground," Sara Nelson, president of the Association of Flight Attendants (AFA), said in a statement released on Twitter.
